Each product entered will be judged by over 5,000 participants, independently sourced from m1nd-set’s unique database of international travellers. Every single one of the consumers voting will have travelled through an airport within the past six months. This stage of the judging process will make up 70% of the overall score.
A panel of bloggers and vloggers (video bloggers), who possess a range of product and travel expertise, will also judge the products, making up the remaining 30% of the overall score. In addition to receiving information about each item, this panel will be able to touch, feel and try out the product.
Entry criteria for Product Awards (all categories)
Products either have to be already present in the travel retail environment or planned to launch imminently in travel retail. Products previously entered into the awards may be re-entered. Unique attributes to the travel / travel retail sector should be highlighted, eg. travel retail exclusives, special editions or travel friendly products. (100 words maximum + images)
Consumers will also vote on 61 airports, selected from each continent from m1nd-set’s unique database.
Over 5,000 participants who have travelled through at least one of the 61 airports within the past six months will be asked a series of questions about their airport shopping experience, specifically on the themes of the awards: the retail environment, customer experience, digital and social media offer, sense of place and, new in 2020, the airport food and beverage offer. The results will then be collated and airports will be awarded accordingly.
For the new green initiative at an airport award, the submissions made by the participating airports, retailers or F&B operators will be shared with the panel of consumers. They will review them, scoring the entries on a 10 point scale. Our panel of bloggers and vloggers will also review these entries. The same 70:30 ratio between consumers’ and bloggers’ scores will apply to the Green Initiative as with the product awards.
Entry criteria for Best Green Initiative at an Airport
Entries for this award can be nominated by airports or any commercial partner at an airport: retailer, brand, F&B concessionaire, car hire/car park operator, design company. The initiative has to either have been undertaken already or in the pre-launch planning stages.
The nomination should outline the objectives of the initiative, how eco-friendly principles were integrated, how passengers were engaged, the results and the overall impact. (300 words maximum + images)
As with the product awards participating consumers in the judging panel who have taken a cruise holiday in the last 12 months will judge their Cruise Retail experience. The same methodology will apply as for the airport awards, where the consumers will be asked a series of questions about their cruise ship shopping experience and the results will be collated and the cruise ship companies and their retailers will be awarded accordingly.
